How Anvaya Analyzes Your Chart: 20 Computational Layers Explained

A behind-the-scenes look at how our engine processes your birth data through 20 simultaneous analysis layers, from ephemeris computation to AI-powered consultation.

What Happens When You Enter Your Birth Data

When you type your birth date, time, and place into Anvaya Jyotish, something extraordinary happens in the next 2.3 seconds. Your chart isn't just "calculated" -- it's processed through 20 independent computation layers, each one a complete analysis system that a human astrologer would spend hours performing manually.

Here's exactly what fires, in order.

Layer 1-3: Astronomical Foundation

Ephemeris Computation -- We query the Swiss Ephemeris (the same engine NASA-affiliated researchers use) to compute the exact sidereal longitude of all 9 Vedic planets (Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Rahu, Ketu) plus Uranus and Neptune for advanced analysis. Precision: sub-arc-second (0.0001 degrees).

Ayanamsa Application -- We apply the Lahiri ayanamsa to convert tropical positions to the sidereal zodiac used in Vedic astrology. This single correction is where most free astrology apps get it wrong -- a 1-degree error in ayanamsa shifts your entire chart.

House System -- We calculate the Ascendant (Lagna) and all 12 house cusps. The Ascendant degree is computed to arc-minute precision because even a 2-degree shift can change your rising sign.

Layer 4-6: Chart Architecture

16 Divisional Charts (Vargas) -- Your birth chart is just the beginning. We compute all 16 divisional charts prescribed by Parashara: D1 (Rashi), D2 (Hora), D3 (Drekkana), D4 (Chaturthamsha), D7 (Saptamsha), D9 (Navamsha), D10 (Dashamsha), D12 (Dwadashamsha), D16 (Shodashamsha), D20 (Vimshamsha), D24 (Chaturvimshamsha), D27 (Nakshatramsha), D30 (Trimshamsha), D40 (Khavedamsha), D45 (Akshavedamsha), and D60 (Shashtiamsha).

Each divisional chart reveals a different life domain. Your D9 (Navamsha) shows marriage quality. Your D10 (Dashamsha) reveals career specifics. Your D7 (Saptamsha) indicates children. Most apps compute only D1 and maybe D9 -- we compute all 16 because the classical texts demand it.

Planetary Dignities -- For each planet in each divisional chart, we compute: own sign, exaltation, debilitation, moolatrikona, friendly/neutral/enemy sign placement, and Vargottama status (same sign in D1 and D9 -- a powerful indicator).

Nakshatra Mapping -- Every planet's nakshatra (lunar mansion), pada (quarter), and nakshatra lord are computed. Nakshatras are the backbone of dasha timing and are more precise than sign-based analysis.

Layer 7-9: Strength Metrics

Shadbala (Six-fold Strength) -- Each planet receives a composite strength score from 6 independent sub-calculations: Sthana Bala (positional), Dig Bala (directional), Kala Bala (temporal), Chesta Bala (motional), Naisargika Bala (natural), and Drik Bala (aspectual). A planet scoring above 1.0 rupas is considered strong. This takes a human astrologer 30+ minutes per planet -- we do all 9 in milliseconds.

Ashtakavarga -- An 8x12 matrix of benefic dots (bindus) computed for each planet across all 12 signs. The Sarvashtakavarga (combined score) reveals which houses are inherently strong or weak in your chart. Houses with 28+ bindus are auspicious; below 25 signals challenges.

Vimshopaka Bala -- Planetary strength computed across selected divisional charts (not just D1). This is the true "deep strength" that shows whether a planet's promise in the birth chart holds up under divisional scrutiny.

Layer 10-12: Timing Systems

Vimshottari Dasha -- The primary Vedic timing system. We compute your complete 120-year dasha timeline: Mahadasha (major period, 6-20 years), Antardasha (sub-period, months to years), Pratyantardasha (sub-sub-period, weeks to months). Each level tells you what planet is "running" your life at that moment.

Yogini Dasha -- A parallel timing system based on the Moon's nakshatra. Where Vimshottari and Yogini agree, confidence in timing predictions increases dramatically.

Chara Dasha (Jaimini) -- A sign-based dasha system from the Jaimini school. Different from Parashara's planet-based system, it provides an independent timing cross-reference.

Layer 13-15: Pattern Recognition

79 Yoga Detection -- We scan for 79 classical yoga combinations: Raj Yogas (power), Dhana Yogas (wealth), Pancha Mahapurusha Yogas (character), Viparita Raj Yogas (success through adversity), Dosha combinations (Manglik, Kaal Sarp, Grahan), and more. Each yoga is scored for strength and checked against classical conditions from BPHS and Phaladeepika.

128+ Classical Rules -- Our rule engine encodes 128+ specific prediction rules from BV Raman's "How to Judge a Horoscope" (Vol 1 & 2), BPHS, Phaladeepika, and Jataka Parijata. Each rule fires independently and produces a quality score (-1 to +1) with a confidence estimate and the specific textual source.

KP (Krishnamurti Paddhati) System -- Sub-lord theory analysis for all 12 cusps. The KP system is known for its precision in timing -- when the Vimshottari dasha lord is also a KP significator of the relevant house, the prediction confidence jumps significantly.

Layer 16-18: Advanced Analysis

9-System Convergence Scoring -- This is our proprietary innovation. We score agreement across 9 independent systems: Parashari rules, KP significators, Vimshottari dasha, Yogini dasha, Chara dasha, Double Transit (Jupiter + Saturn), Ashtakavarga, Navamsha cross-reference, and Degree-level transits. When 7+ systems agree, we flag it as a high-confidence prediction.

Medical Astrology -- Using Kala Purusha body mapping and 6th/8th house analysis, we identify health vulnerabilities, Ayurvedic dosha constitution (Vata/Pitta/Kapha), and disease susceptibilities. This module cross-references planetary afflictions with classical medical astrology from Charaka Samhita.

Forward Transit Scanner -- We scan the actual ephemeris for the next 24 months and identify windows where transiting planets form significant aspects to your natal chart. Double transit windows (Jupiter AND Saturn both aspecting the same house) are flagged as high-probability event windows.

Layer 19-20: Intelligence Layer

Prashna (Horary) -- When you ask a question, we cast a chart for that exact moment. This "question chart" provides an independent verdict that either confirms or contradicts the natal analysis. When Prashna agrees with natal, it's a double confirmation.

AI Consultation (Claude) -- All 18 layers above feed into our AI astrologer. Unlike generic AI chatbots that guess at astrology, our system provides Claude with your complete computational analysis -- every planet position, every yoga, every dasha period, every convergence score. The AI doesn't generate astrological data; it interprets the data our engine already computed. This is the difference between asking ChatGPT "what's my horoscope" and having a master astrologer review 20 pages of your chart analysis.
