1. Information We Collect

Account Information

  • Email address — for account creation, login, and transactional emails
  • Name — for personalizing your experience
  • Password — stored as a one-way cryptographic hash (we cannot read your password)

Birth Data

  • Date, time, and place of birth — required for chart computation
  • Gender — used by classical astrological rules for gender-specific predictions

Birth data is used solely for astrological computation. We do not sell, share, or use birth data for any purpose other than generating your chart and consultation responses.

Optional Intake Data

  • Marital status, education, employment, health conditions
  • Provided voluntarily to improve prediction accuracy
  • Can be omitted without affecting core chart generation

Consultation Data

  • Questions asked to the AI astrologer
  • AI-generated responses
  • Feedback (helpful/wrong ratings)

Payment Data

  • Transaction records (amount, date, plan purchased)
  • We do not store credit card numbers, CVVs, or bank details. All payment processing is handled by Razorpay, a PCI-DSS Level 1 compliant payment gateway.

Automatically Collected

  • Browser type and timezone (for region detection)
  • Anonymous usage analytics via PostHog (if enabled)
  • We do not use third-party advertising trackers

2. How We Use Your Information

  • Chart computation: Birth data is processed through our astronomical computation engine to generate your Vedic birth chart
  • AI consultation: Your chart data and questions are sent to the Claude AI model (by Anthropic) to generate astrological responses. Anthropic does not use this data for training.
  • Account management: Email for login, password resets, and transactional notifications
  • Service improvement: Anonymized, aggregated usage patterns to improve our engine
  • Communication: Transactional emails (OTP, password reset) and occasional product updates (you can unsubscribe anytime)

3. Data Storage & Security

  • Data is stored on encrypted servers hosted on Railway (cloud infrastructure)
  • Passwords are hashed using industry-standard cryptographic algorithms
  • All data transmission uses HTTPS/TLS encryption
  • Access to production data is restricted to authorized personnel only

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with:

  • Anthropic (Claude AI) — chart data sent for AI consultation responses. Governed by Anthropic’s data processing terms.
  • Razorpay — payment processing only. Governed by Razorpay’s privacy policy.
  • Resend — email delivery only (OTP codes, notifications).
  • Law enforcement — only when legally compelled by valid court order.

5. Cookies

We use a single essential cookie (anvaya-user) to maintain your login session. This is an httpOnly, secure cookie that expires after 30 days. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your data — view your charts, questions, and account information in your dashboard
  • Delete your account and all associated data — contact hello@anvayajyotish.com
  • Export your chart data (available on Pro plan)
  • Correct inaccurate personal information via your profile settings
  • Opt out of non-essential emails by clicking unsubscribe

7. Data Retention

  • Account data is retained as long as your account is active
  • Deleted accounts are purged within 30 days
  • Payment records are retained for 7 years as required by Indian tax law
  • Anonymized analytics data may be retained indefinitely

8. Children’s Privacy

The Service is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. Charts can be generated for minors by their parents or guardians.

9. International Users

Your data is processed and stored on servers that may be located outside your country of residence. By using the Service, you consent to the transfer of data to India and other countries where our infrastructure providers operate.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Material changes will be communicated via email or on-site notice. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
