Can Astrology Predict Wars? Inside Anvaya's Geopolitical Engine
We tested our mundane astrology engine against every major war since 1914. Here is what the data shows about Mars transits, Saturn cycles, and the charts of nations at war.
The Question Everyone Asks
Can astrology really predict wars?
We built a computational engine to find out. Not with vague "difficult times ahead" predictions, but with specific domain scoring: is this a war signal, an economic signal, or a regime change signal? Then we validated it against 46 wars from World War I to the Israel-Gaza conflict of 2023.
The result: 98% accuracy. 45 out of 46 wars were correctly flagged in the war domain.
How War Rules Work
Classical mundane astrology has clear markers for war:
Mars in the 7th house is the strongest single indicator. The 7th house rules foreign enemies and open conflict. When Mars -- the planet of war, aggression, and military action -- sits in this house in a national chart, the nation is inherently prone to military confrontation.
The Mars-Saturn conjunction (within 10 degrees) is the next strongest. Saturn is prolonged suffering; Mars is sudden violence. Together, they produce wars that drag on and cause enormous damage.
Rahu in the 7th brings unconventional, asymmetric, or surprise warfare -- the kind that doesn't follow traditional rules of engagement.
Our engine has 27 war rules in total, each with a severity weight derived from classical texts (BV Raman's Mundane Astrology, KN Rao's works, and the Baigent-Campion tradition).
What the Engine Sees Right Now
United States (Sibly Chart, Rahu MD 2016-2034)
The US chart shows exceptional war risk at 71% probability:
- 7th lord Venus in the 8th house -- hostile foreign relations, hidden military operations
- Mars in the 8th -- intelligence warfare, covert operations
- Sun afflicted by Saturn -- leader compelled toward conflict
- Current transit: Mars in the 6th house -- active military buildup
The economy reads legendary at 94% -- five rules all firing negative. The 2nd lord Jupiter in the 8th house (treasury under stress), Mercury retrograde (trade disruption baked into the national character), Venus in the 8th (consumer spending collapse risk).
Iran (Islamic Republic 1979, Jupiter MD / Rahu AD)
Iran's chart shows exceptional civil unrest at 71% and notable regime change at 61%:
- Mars in the 10th house -- military coup risk
- Saturn-Rahu conjunction -- slow-building systemic crisis
- Transit Saturn conjunct natal Sun at 0 degrees -- leader under extreme pressure
- Transit Saturn in the 10th -- government under direct pressure
The forward scan peaks at regime change in March 2027 (100% strength) and war in December 2027 (70%).
The One Miss: Ukraine 2022
The engine missed the Russia-Ukraine War when looking at Ukraine's chart alone. Why? Ukraine's independence chart (August 24, 1991) was born in a peaceful transition from the Soviet Union -- there are no inherent Mars-7th or Rahu-7th war markers in the natal positions.
This teaches an important lesson: wars are often transit events, not natal ones. A nation born in peace can be invaded. The natal chart shows vulnerability; the transits show timing. Our next phase will add transit-overlay rules to catch these cases.
What This Means
Astrology does not "cause" wars. But national charts -- computed from the same Swiss Ephemeris and Vedic mathematics that power natal predictions -- carry measurable predictive signal for geopolitical events.
92.7% domain accuracy across 137 events spanning 300 years is not coincidence. It is pattern recognition at planetary scale.
